The challenge
An estate that experienced utility outages multiple times per year and a household ready to invest in renewables — but only with a system that integrated cleanly with the existing Savant infrastructure and exposed real-time consumption to the homeowner.
Technical scope
Savant Power panel as the central load controller. 38 kW DC roof-mounted solar array with optimized string design for the Hinsdale roof geometry. 60 kWh battery storage (two stacked LFP units) in a conditioned mechanical room. Vehicle-to-home charging for the household vehicles, with managed export based on production. Real-time consumption monitoring through the same Savant UI used for lighting and climate. Utility net-metering interconnection coordinated in-house.
Outcome
Household systems continued running through every utility outage in the first year of operation. The system produces a meaningful share of the household’s annual electricity needs, and the household sees consumption in the same app it uses for the rest of the home.
